Martyrs Mini Retreat

Annual Martyrs Mini Retreat July 23

We know that without the blood sacrifice of the North

American Martyrs, we would not have St. Kateri. Hear how the Martyrs have

spiritually impacted the lives of Shrine’s 2022 visiting priest, Fr Giorgio, and

Pilgrimage/Museum Manager Beth Lynch.

Beth will share her in-depth

research into the lives of the eight Martyrs, and how her Catholic faith

has been enriched by their witness.

Fr. Giorgio will discuss how he has been

spiritually moved and edified by the

Martyrs during his first months here

at the Shrine.

3:15: Confessions in Coliseum.

Personal time follows for prayerful walks through the holy ground, veneration of

relic in Our Lady Undoer of Knots Chapel in the Visitor Center and Coliseum,

and exhibits and videos in museum.

4:00 Vigil Mass with Fr Giorgio. No registration is necessary. Donations appreciated.

Shrine Conference Registration

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

As we face the challenges of our time, we can find plentiful hope in the Holy Spirit.  Jesuit Fr. Michael Bellafiore will unpack the meaning of this great message.  His first talk will help us better understand the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and what it means to live ‘in the Holy Spirit.’  Building on this theme, Fr. Bellafiore will then speak about discerning how the Holy Spirit is calling us now in our lives.  The day will conclude with opportunities for Adoration and confession, followed by Mass at 4:00 p.m. celebrated by Bishop Edward Scharfenberger.  Enjoy a day of fellowship, reflection and the beauty and peace of the Shrine grounds.

Hope for the Future: A Conversation on Holy Ground

Description

In the 17th century, Jesuit missionaries gave their lives in service of God and the indigenous people of what is now New York State. A review of their lives and deaths underscores the critical importance of religious liberty and using that freedom to living lives according to one’s faith tradition. Frs. John de Brebeuf, Isaac Jogues, and their companions are also witnesses to hope – that there is not only meaning to life and suffering and arduous labor, but something greater than the pandemic, politics, and everything else that ails us in 2020.

Join National Review Institute senior fellow Kathryn Jean Lopez live from the North American Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville, N.Y., in conversation with popular author and speaker Dominican priest Father Peter John Cameron, O.P, and Beth Lynch, pilgrimage coordinator and museum manager at the Martyrs Shrine.

This live Zoom event is an initiative of NRI’s Center for Religion, Culture, and Civil Society, co-sponsored by the National Shrine of the North American Martyrs and Birthplace of St. Kateri Tekakwitha.
